Tasting notes

A classic, Italian-style, unfiltered lager with heirloom Italian Adriatic Coastal barley. Refreshing with notes of honey & bread crust, with nice length on the palate. Rounded out with delicate notes of strawberry, lemon & juniper from the unique new-school noble Saphir hop.

Brewer’s notes

WHAT MAKES THE PILS ITALIAN?!

The main difference between Italian Pils & German Pils is that Italian Pils is dry hopped.

German Pils is less bitter & punchy than Czech pils, but then the dry-hopping makes Italian Pils as hoppy as Czech Pils.

Because of the different ways of adding hops, this means they are incredibly unique.

Czech = punchy, more bitter, lots of malt and hops

German = more restrained, less bitter, less total flavour

Italian = dry hopped German (a less bitter Czech, essentially)

Our beer has a lovely citrus, floral nose, while the bread crust & honey come out with each sip. This brew is modelled after Johnny’s favourite beer - Ichnusa non-filtrata - an Italian pils.
